Tried and tested - Autovaletdirect franchise
Franchisee: Gavin Teasdale
Territory: Wakefield
Why I chose franchising
Franchising was my preferred choice of starting a business as you have the backing and support of a franchisor and other franchisees, who have different levels of experience and knowledge.
You also have a brand name behind you so the customer has the peace of mind that the service they get has been tried and tested.
What I did before taking up a franchise
Before taking up a franchise I was a Retail Manager for twenty years.
How I raised the finance
I raised the finance with a bank loan and savings.
The training and support I receive from my franchisor
I received two weeks of hands-on training from my franchisor and other franchisees, which I found to be invaluable.
The support I receive is ongoing. There is always someone to talk to, no matter how trivial the problem may be, and there is a wealth of experience behind their advice.
The challenges I have faced
My main challenge was giving up a secure job with a regular income, however the benefits outweigh the concerns by far.
My advice to someone thinking of buying their first franchise
My advice to someone thinking of buying their first franchise would be to list your strengths and weaknesses. Find a franchise you feel is suitable for your skills and then research it for your area.
My plans for the future
My plans are to raise brand and business awareness of Autovaletdirect in my area and build up a regular customer base by giving the best possible service available.
