Autovaletdirect franchise mobile valeting service with profitable extras
Autovaletdirect is a mobile car valeting franchise with a difference. Its franchisees are also fully trained to repair minor paintwork problems, such as scratches and colour fading, and can treat most odours and spillages.
Chris Johnson, the franchisor, attributes its development to the time the company has spent over the years in extensive research. “The result is that our team has achieved a near perfect formula – namely a product and service that is not only useful to its customers, but often essential,” he says. “The range is an amazingly cost effective alternative to anything else currently available, and generates very good profits for our network.
“We've developed and refined our franchise system and start-up package support to the point where we believe it gives our franchisees the very best opportunity to build a successful, profitable and rewarding business and we have nurtured some excellent commercial relationships with national companies for the benefit of our network.”
One of its latest franchisees is Richard Keen in Swindon who joined in April. “It took me two years of research and thought before deciding that Autovaletdirect was the right choice,” he says. “I had been an HGV driver for 27 years and was unsettled with the lifestyle. There was limited quality family time, early mornings, and job security was unpredictable.
“At 47, I decided that if I didn’t change my career now it would be too late. I have always enjoyed cleaning cars and taking pride in keeping the paintwork looking as new as possible on my own vehicle and those of friends.
“I looked at other franchise opportunities, but decided that Autovaletdirect was an established business that was affordable and unique in its approach. The set-up procedure, training and ongoing support all looked good. I met the franchisor a couple of times and worked with a franchisee before deciding this was the franchise for me.
“I have no regrets, although running your own business does bring different worries. There is a lot to learn. It has been important to me to have the support of my wife and family as I couldn’t have done this on my own.
Steady demand
“Work has been very steady since day one and has included three fully-paid enjoyable events, insurance rectification work with two other franchisees on 30 damaged vehicles, and national corporate work through the franchisor’s alliances. Being part of a franchise helps you build up a customer base more quickly than being on your own.
“In the first three months my turnover exceeded my forecast, which is very encouraging. If I can pay myself a wage and cover my outgoings in the first year, I will be happy. Early indications are that this will be exceeded.
“Chris has provided excellent support. He is there whenever you need advice, and gives constant encouragement and motivation. The training was really thorough and I felt confident in going it alone. The other franchisees also provide good support. There is always someone on the end of the phone if I have any queries.
“My plans for the future are to have a successful business and make a profit, whilst being happy with the work and having a better lifestyle,” concludes Keen.
